- Tips
- For more information about old and new format, refer to “Ad type "Final URL format"
- Note
- The destination URL format (old) will close in the future, except for some items in Dynamic Ads for Display. Consider converting to the new age groups in advance.
What the converting feature can do
- You can select items (campaigns, ad groups, ads) to be converted on the list on the Campaign Management Tool and use the menu for converting in “Bulk edits”.
- When you select a campaign or ad group, you can convert all ads under that campaign or ad group.
- This feature is available on Display Ads (Auction) only.
- Converting feature will skip ad contents added with final URL (new format).
- This feature does not support converting items by specifying multiple accounts.
- Tips
When you convert ads under your multiple accounts at once, learn on "Apply final URL format (cross accounts)".
We recommend using the converting feature to the new format.
We will process converting automatically for ads in the old format in the near future, but please make sure that the following situation may occur on the process. Therefore, we recommend using the converting feature to the new format by yourself.
- Since the converting automatically processes based on the defined rules, the results may not be meet your expectation in some cases.
- When the domain of destination URL and display URL don’t match, the converting to the new format will fail and your ads may be paused as a result.

Case except for Carousel Ads
When you use the converting feature for ad types (banner ads, responsive ads, Dynamic Ads for Display, text ads), check the following steps and settings.
(1) Determine the URL automatically by each ad and convert (without editorial review)
It compares the value of “destination URL” and “display URL” set for ads before converting, and automatically determine the final URL to convert.
The process is done by system, so the converted ads are not subject to editorial review.
- Example:
- [Before (old format)]
Case: when the domain of destination URL and display URL match[After (new format)]Item name Set value Destination URL https://example.com Display URL example.com Item name Set value Description Final URL https://example.com Set the value of destination URL Display URL example.com Automatically generated from the final URL Tracking URL (none) _ Smartphone final URL (none) _ Custom parameter (none) _
When selected (1), you can choose any of (1)-A and (1)-B as the process method for the case when the domain of “destination URL” and “display URL” don’t match.
(1)-A: Detect and apply the final URL automatically
It crawls the destination URL, then set the final URL and tracking URL automatically.
*What is crawling?
"Crawling" is the work of going around the advertiser’s website and acquiring information on each page.
- Note
- Crawling may take a long time in some cases.
- It may also take a long time to complete the converting, or access to the website may be concentrated due to crawl, which may affect the display of your website.
- When a redirect by JavaScript etc. is included where it crawls, a URL that is not the final destination may be set as the final URL. In such case, edit the ads and set the correct final URL by yourself. Note that the edited ads will be subject for editorial review.
- As a result of crawling, if the final URL cannot be obtained, an error will occur. In this case, set the URL later manually.
- Example:
- [Before (old format)]
Case: when the domain of destination URL and display URL don’t match[After (new format)]Item name Set value Destination URL https://example.tracking.com Display URL example.com Item name Set value Description Final URL https://example.com It crawls destination URL and set the displayed URL Display URL example.com Automatically generated from the final URL Tracking URL https://example.tracking.com Set destination URL Smartphone final URL (none) _ Custom parameter (none) _
(1)-B: Skip without converting
When the domain of “destination URL” and “display URL” don’t match, it skips the ads without converting. It does not crawl the website. Choose this option when you don’t need crawling your website.
(2) Set the URL manually and convert (to be reviewed)
It will set the ad contents (final URL, smartphone final URL, tracking URL, custom parameter) that you entered to ads to be converted.
After converted, these ads are subject to editorial review.
Case for Carousel Ads
When you use the converting feature for carousel ads, check the following method and settings.
(1) Determine the URL automatically by each ad and convert (without editorial review)
Regardless of your choice of (1)-A: Detect and apply the final URL automatically or (1)-B: Skip without converting, the converting will only be performed when all of the following domains match.
- Destination URL of each carousel card
- Destination URL of the ad
- Display URL of the ad
If the above does not apply, an error will occur and converting will not be possible.
It does not crawl the website for carousel ads.
[Before (old format)]

---|---|

Destination URL of each carousel card | https://example.com |
Display URL | example.com |
[After (new format)]

Tracking URL | (none) | _ |
Smartphone final URL | (none) | _ |

(2) Set the URL manually and convert (to be reviewed)
It will set the ad contents (final URL, smartphone final URL, tracking URL, custom parameter) that you entered to ads to be converted. Entered information will be set to carousel cards also.
After converted, these ads are subject to editorial review.
