Share target list on MCC account

Sharing target list on MCC account is a function that allows multiple ad accounts linked to MCC accounts to share a list (target list) of users to whom ads are delivered when site retargeting is used across accounts.
By using the function of sharing target list, you can use a target list by multiple ad accounts. Check the following two method to share target list.

  • Share the target list created by the MCC account to the linked ad account (sharing list)
  • The target list held by the ad account is provided to the MCC account (providing list), and the MCC account allow each ad accounts to share the target list (list sharing)
Note
  • When your ad account share the target list from MCC account, it can be done only by one MCC account.
  • When you are running ads on one account and set up site retargeting, you don't need to use sharing target list of MCC account. If you are running ads on one account, see “Basics of Site Retargeting and Setting Flow”.

Steps for Sharing target list on MCC account


Preparation
Step 1: Check “Privacy Policy” page of the advertiser’s website
Step 2: Acquire Site retargeting tag
Step 3: Put Site retargeting tag on the website
Step 4: Share target list
Step 5: Set the target list to ad group

Preparation

The step after creating a MCC account, associate (account link) other accounts with your MCC account.

Step 1: Check “Privacy Policy” page of the advertiser’s website

Confirm “Privacy policy” on the advertiser’s website and check if “Matters to be included in the Privacy Policy” is described on the page. If "Matters to be included in the Privacy Policy" is not clearly described on the page, describe the information clearly.

Step 2: Acquire Site retargeting tag

Acquire the site retargeting tag for MCC account on the Campaign Management Tool.

Step 3: Put Site retargeting tag on the website

Install the site retargeting tag acquired on the step 2 to the advertiser’s website.
By acquiring a site retargeting tag and installing the tag on the site, it is possible to acquire visit history of users who visited the website and to deliver ads based on the acquired visit history.

Note
  • When you are already using the site retargeting function for each account and start using the sharing target list on the MCC account, install the site retargeting tag acquired on the step 2 on the page of the advertiser's website. Also, if you no longer need the site retargeting tag for each ad account, please remove the tag from your website.
  • User browsing history information will not be stored for any users visiting a page without this tag. It is recommended to tag each page in the site with the site retargeting tag.

Step 4: Share target list

Share the target list using either 1 or 2 below.

1. Create a new MCC account and share

Create a target list with your MCC account and share it with each ad account.

2. Provide the created list from ad account to MCC account

Provide the created target list hold on ad account to MCC account. If the MCC account whom the target list provided to shares the list to each ad accounts, multiple ad accounts can use the list.

Tips
  • You can also create a target list of users to exclude ads and set them as exclusions when associating them with ad groups (step 5).
  • For websites that include double-byte characters in the URL, you can specify the URL as a target list condition by URL-encoding the character.
    * URL encoding is to convert a URL that contains double-byte characters that are not recognized as a request to the server into a URL that can be recognized as a request by a special combination of characters.

Step 5: Set the target list to ad group

Set the target list shared on the step 4 to ad groups. This allows you to serve ads created in your ad group to users in your target list. See the following page for details.
