Import data and create audience list of customer data

You can import customer's data that you stored to the custom list on Display Ads. You can use the imported data for ad delivery after matching the data stored on Yahoo! JAPAN.
By using the custom list created with imported data, it is possible to deliver ads to existing customers and users with high interest who have requested materials. You can also approach users who haven't visited your website.

The customer data that can be imported are as follows.

  • Ad identifier for App (IDFA or AAID)
  • Email Address (hashed)
    You can use both unhashed email address and hashed email address.
    On hashing, use SHA-256 algorithm. (For the hashing process, Yahoo! JAPAN do not support.)

  • After December 15, 2021, ad delivery by custom lists imported with hashed email addresses using the salt value will become unavailable. If you are using an email address that has been hashed using a salt value, re-import email addresses that have been hashed without a salt value or email addresses unhashed.
  • When uploading your app's ad identifiers (IDFA, AAID), make sure your customers aren't opting out at that time. If you have opted out at that time, please do not upload even the ad identifier for the app that you obtained in the past.
  • When using a tool such as Yahoo! DMP for data link, please continue to use the tool. Learn more about using a tool for data link on “Targeting with Custom List”.
  • Yahoo! JAPAN Ads API don't support importing unhashed email addresses. Hash the email addresses when importing via API.

File formats to be uploaded

Prepare the data to be imported to the custom list in the following file format.

  • For the unhashed email address:
    text file (.txt)
  • For the hashed email address, and ad identifier for apps (IDFA or AAID):

    There is no limit for the total number of data, however the maximum file size is 200MB.

Import data and create custom list

See “Importable file formats” and create a file to import data in ZIP format.

    1. In the upper right corner of the new platform, click the tools icon.
    2. Click “Target List” in “Common Library”. 
    3. "Target List" screen will appear.

      *If the site retargeting tag has not been issued, "Required for Privacy Policy" agreement screen will be displayed. Learn more detail on “Acquire Site Retargeting Tag and Tagging on Site”.
    4. Click the “+New target List” button and select “Custom list” option in the drop-down.
    5. Enter the required information.
      • Target list name : Enter the name of Target list. The name must be a unique name.
      • Duration of data link : Set how many days the reach will be valid after the imported data is connected. You can set from 1 to 60 days.
      • Description (optional) : You can describe about the target list on this field. This is optional.
      • Data link file : Select “Upload” and select a file on the screen.
        (1) Select any of the following option on “Data link type”.
           -Hashed email address
           -Unhashed email address
         -Email address
        (2) Click “Browse...” and select a file (ZIP format) to import.
        (3) Confirm the “Yahoo! JAPAN Advertising Data Usage Standards (PDF)” (Japanese version) and check the option “I comply with Yahoo Japan Advertising Data Usage Standards” in the dialog.
    6. Click “Create” button.

      You can check the uploaded file from "Linked data" of the created target list (custom list) on the Target lists screen. Click the “i” icon at the right end of “Details” to see the “Upload status”.

      When the status became “Data loaded”, the data import job has completed. After the job completes, the custom list is created.
      If “File format error” occurs, please confirm the file format etc. and try uploading again.

  • User size is the approximate number of users that you can deliver ads. It is not the number of the uploaded data.
  • The user size of the custom list created by importing is not included in the default list.
  • It may take several hours for the user size to be reflected after the upload status becomes “Complete”.
  • If the number of data to be uploaded is small. the number of reach (number of distribution target users” cannot be secured.)
  • Downloading the imported data is not available.

Import and add data to an existing custom list

You can add data to the same custom list by importing.

  • We recommend updating by scheduled regular manner because ad delivery will be unavailable if you don't import and add data before the end date set on "Valid duration of data connection." Learn more details on "Duration of custom list."
  • When importing and add data, you can add a different linked data type.
    Upload new: by IDFA (user A, user B)
    Upload additionally: by AAID (user A, user C)

    In this case, the latest custom list includes "user A" "user B" and "user C".
    However "user B" will not be included in the custom list after the end of duration you set for new uploading because "user B" is not updated on uploading additionally.
