Import data and create audience list of customer data
You can upload your customers' data to the audience list in Display Ads. We match data you imported with data stored in Yahoo! JAPAN and deliver ads.
By using the audience list that has your customer data, you can reach more audiences who are interested in your products. Additionally, you can reach an audience that hasn't visited your website. The following customer data are available:
- Ad identifier for App (IDFA or AAID)
- Email address
You can use both unhashed and hashed email addresses.
When you hash them, use the SHA-256 algorithm. We don't support hashing email addresses.
Unhashed email addresses will be hashed using the SHA-256 algorithm on your PC before reaching our server.
- Note
- Ad delivery using imported custom lists that use hashed email addresses with a salt value became unavailable. Use email addresses hashed without using a salt value or unhashed email addresses.
- When uploading your app's ad identifiers (IDFA, AAID), make sure your customers aren't opted out. If they are opted out at that time, don't upload the ad identifier you got in the past.
- Tips
- When you connect data using any data-connecting tool, continue using it. Learn more about how to use tools on "Link customer data using the data-connecting tool and create audience list"
- When you import user identifiers, learn about steps on Import user identifier and create audience list"
- If the user size remains zero after importing data into the audience list for customer data, check the following help:
The user size remains zero after importing data into the audience list for customer data
File format for uploading
When uploading your data to the audience list, use the following format:
File format |
|
Character code | UTF-8 (without BOM), Shift JIS *The file can only contain half-width characters and numbers. |
Line feed code | LF, CRLF |
File size | Up to 200MB |
Number of data |
|
Data samples
Click the following links for each text file to refer to the sample data in text format.
*Note that these text files are samples, don't use them as-is for your case. When you prepare the file to upload, use the values of your stored customer data.
- IDFA: idfa.txt
- AAID: aaid.txt
- Hashed email address: hashed_mailadress.txt
Import data and create an audience list of customer data
See the File format section and create a file.
- Note
- User size is the approximate number of audience and doesn't imply the number of data in the uploaded file.
- The default audience list doesn't include a user size in the audience list you created.
- User size may not appear after a few hours after the status becomes "Data loaded."
- If the number of data you uploaded is small, you may not have enough reach (target audience).
- You can't download the imported data.
Valid duration of data connection
You can specify the valid duration of data you connected with the list between 1-60 days.
The following table shows how the valid duration works.
_ | Action | Number of reaches in the list | Ad delivery |
---|---|---|---|
Sep1, 2018 |
| 3,000 | Started |
Sep10, 2018 | - | 3,000 | Delivering |
Sep11, 2018 | - | 0 *Because it became invalid since 10 days past. | Ended |
- Tips
- The upper limit of the duration is 60 days after connecting the list data. If you continue using the same data after 60 days, import the data again.
- Within 60 days after connecting the list data, you can change the valid duration.
- Example
- October 1: List data connected (50 days of duration).
October 15: Updated the duration to 10 days.

Import data to an existing custom list
You can add more data to the same audience list.
- Update your data regularly. Your ads will stop if you don't add data within the valid duration. Learn more about Valid duration of data connection
- You can add different types of data when you add data.
- Example
- Initial upload: IDFA (User A, User B)
Additional upload: AAID (User A, User C)
In this example, the latest audience list includes "User A," "User B," and "User C."
After the valid duration you set initially, "User B" won't be on the list.
