Yahoo! JAPAN Ads Help

You can create Ads with the following steps on the Campaign Editor.

Note
  • The process will be completed when the information entered or revised on the Campaign Editor is synchronized to the data stored on the Campaign Management Tool once after uploaded from the Campaign Editor.

    Upload Data
  • Once you edited your campaign data on Campaign Editor and upload to the Campaign Management Tool, any of ad components (title, descriptions, display URL, Landing Page URL, Tracking URL, Custom parameters, etc.,) will be unavailable to revise. Please create a new ad, if you need to change anything on your ads.
  • Ads created and uploaded to the Campaign Management Tool will be subject to Editorial Review.

Tips
  • "Extended Text Ad" is ad type which will be delivered to PC /Smartphone / Tablet devices.
  • "Mobile app download Ad" is ad type to promote an app on Smartphone / Tablet.
  • "Dynamic Ads for Search" is an advertisement that automatically generates an ad title and delivers it in response to a search query (search keyword) that is highly relevant to the content of the site being promoted.

 

How to Create an Ad from the "Create Ads" button (Extended Text Ad)

Steps
  1. Click the "Ads" tab.
  2. Click the "Create Ads" button.
  3. Select "Extended Text Ad" option on the pulldown.

  4. Select ad group to create ads on the ad group list.

    On this list, campaigns with the Campaign type selected on the step 3 and the ad group under the campaign can be seen.
    Tips
    When creating an ad without designating any created campaigns, it will be created under a new “CampaignXX auto-created ” and “Ad groupXX auto-created “.
  5. Enter the ad name.
    "Ad name" identifies each ad within the ad group.
  6. Select ad display setting, On or Off.
  7. Enter Title1, Title2, Title3, Description1, Description2. Title1/2 and description1 are required. Title3 and description2 are optional.
    Tips
    When you use any of features such as ‘Keyword Insertion’, 'COUNTDOWN', 'Ad Customizer' and 'IF'-function, click the [+] button at the right of each field.

  8. Enter “Landing Page URL”.
    Enter the page URL that appears when ad user clicks an ad.
  9. Enter "Directory1" and "Directory2" if necessary.
    Set an unique string which stays at the end of Display URL (half-width alpha numeric is recommended). The string will help to describe the page context of Landing Page URL clearly.
    Note that when you add Directory2, Directory1 is required. The Directory2 does not work without Direcroty1.

    ・Some URLs are not available for Display URL on creating ads.
    ・Ads may describe a shorten URL by replacing a part with "…".
    ・Some type of URL in Japanese characters may be exchanged with an URL in Punycode format (starting with xn-- described in half-width alpha numerics) on ad delivery.
    Tips
    When you use any of features such as ‘Keyword Insertion’, 'COUNTDOWN', 'Ad Customizer' and 'IF'-function, click the [+] button at the right of each field. Learn more about Default Text on following help topic:

  10. Enter URL Option “Smartphone Landing Page URL”
    If the URL will differ between PC and Smartphone access, place the URL for smartphones in “Smartphone Landing Page URL”.
    Tips
    Place the Smartphone URL in “Smartphone Landing Page URL” when the advertiser only has a URL for Smartphones.
    For Mobile App Download ad, you can skip entering for "Smartphone Landing Page URL".
  11. Enter URL Option “Tracking URL”
    If an ad tracking tool is used to obtain data such as click information, place the URL for the ad tracking within “Tracking URL”.
    Tips
    If the landing page will directory link from the ad clicked by users, “Tacking URL” will not be required to set.
    Tracking URL cannot be entered when you create ads for Android devices.
  12. Enter URL Option “Custom Parameter”
    Enter the Custom Parameter, clicking [...] button on the right side of its field. Placing Custom Parameter in the URL enables URLs such as “Landing Page URL” and “Tracking URL” to include a unique value that will track ad performance.

    ・You can enable up to three Custom Parameters for a single ad.
    ・You need to enter both of the Custom Parameter and its value on the dialog.
  13. Click the [Create] button. Click the [Continue] button to continue creating more.

    When you create an ad group without specifying any campaign, the popup message of creating a new campaign will appear for your notification.

When creating ads without designating any ad group, "Campaign auto-created" and "Ad group auto-created" will be created, the status of the campaign and ad group will be seen as "Invalid".
Any campaign with the status "Invalid" on Campaign Editor, and its lower layer components (ad groups, ads) cannot be upload to the Campaign Management Tool. Before uploading, please make sure and required information below from 'Campaign' tab or 'Ad group' tab.

How to Create an Ad from the "Create Ads" button (Mobile app download Ad)

Steps
  1. Click the "Ads" tab.
  2. Click the "Create Ads" button.
  3. Select "Mobile app download ad" option on the pulldown.

  4. Select ad group to create ads on the ad group list.

    On this list, campaigns with the Campaign type selected (Mobile app download ad) on the step 3 and the ad group under the campaign can be seen.
    Tips
    When creating an ad without designating any created campaigns, it will be created under a new “CampaignXX auto-created ” and “Ad groupXX auto-created “. In this case, the created campaign will be a Standard Campaign (for PC/Smartphone/Tablet), so please change the type to "Mobile app download" on Data Area.
  5. Enter the ad name.
    "Ad name" identifies each ad within the ad group.

  7. Enter Title1, Title2 and Description

  8. Configure "Focus Device".
    If you enable the checkbox of "Display to Smartphone preferentially", your ads will be delivered to Smartphone devices only.

  9. Enter “Landing Page URL”.
    Enter the page URL that appears when ad user clicks an ad.
    For App Download Ads, data entry for “Landing Page URL” varies depending on OS type (iOS or Android).
    – To create ads for iOS devices
    You need to put the final destination URL of the App download page. The App ID of your App downloadable at the destination URL have to be same to the App ID set on your campaign.
    – To create ads for Android devices
    The Destination URL is optional. If you don't specify the Landing Page URL on creating ads, the Landing Page URL will be automatically generated with the OS and package name you entered for campaign setting during the data upload.
    The App package name of the downloadable App from the URL and the package name specified on the Campaign should be same. And also you can add the parameter used for your Analytics Tool on to the Destination URL. Please confirm with your tool supplier whether your Analytics tool supports Search Ads, parameter details and related information.
  10. Enter "Tracking URL".
    When you use a tracking tool provided by tool vendors, the URL for tracking click information and other effectiveness can be entered on this "Tracking URL".
    Tips
    ・This option is not required when you don't use such tracking tool.
    ・Tracking URL is not available on the setting when you create ads to be displayed on Android devices.
  11. Enter “Custom Parameter”
    Enter the Custom Parameter, clicking [...] button on the right side of its field. Placing Custom Parameter in the URL enables URLs such as “Landing Page URL” and “Tracking URL” to include a unique value that will track ad performance.

  12. Click the "Create" button. Click the "Continue" button to continue creating more.

How to Create an Ad from the "Create Ads" button (Dynamic Ads for Search)

Steps
  1. Click the "Ads" tab.
  2. Click the "Create Ads" button.
  3. Select "Dynamic Ads for Search" option on the pulldown.
  4. Select ad group to create ads on the ad group list.
    On this list, campaigns with the Campaign type "Dynamic Ads for Search" selected on the step 3 and the ad group under the campaign can be seen.
    Tips
    When creating an ad without designating any created campaigns, it will be created under a new “CampaignXX auto-created ” and “Ad groupXX auto-created “. Please note that the campaign has been created as campaign type "Standard," change the type to ‘Dynamic Ads for Search’ campaign on Data Area.
  5. Enter the ad name.
    "Ad name" identifies each ad within the ad group.
  6. Select ad display setting, On or Off.
  7. Enter Description1 and 2.
    Enter your ad description to be displayed on the search results.
    The description 2 is optional.
    Note
    "Dynamic Ads for Search" automatically generate ad title, so you need to describe any required notation such as "U18" or "Opinion ad" within the description clearly.
    Tips
    When you use any of features such as "Keyword Insertion," "COUNTDOWN," "Ad Customizer" and "IF"-function, click the [+] button at the right of each field.

  8. Enter URL Option “Tracking URL”.
    If an ad tracking tool is used to obtain data such as click information, place the URL for the ad tracking within “Tracking URL”.
    Tips
    If you do not use any analytics tool, you can skip entry of the Tracking URL.
  9. Enter "Custom Parameter".
    Enter the Custom Parameter, clicking [...] button on the right side of its field. If you enable the Custom Parameter, you will be able to set any text string such as tracking identifier for advertising effect onto "Landing Page URL" or "Tracking URL" option.


    Tips
    • Up to 3 Custom Parameters can be set.
    • When you enter Custom Parameter, you need to enter both of the Custom Parameter and its value on the dialog.
  10. Click the "Create" button. Click the "Continue" button to continue creating more.

How to Create an Ad by direct entry on the Data Area

Steps
  1. Click the "Ads" tab.
  2. Directly enter data while the cursor is in the bottom most part of the Data Area.

    • You can select campaign name, ad group name, display settings, focus device, etc., on the pulldown menu.
    • For "Landing Page URL", please enter the URL of the page which is displayed when the ad is clicked.
    • When you enter the Custom Parameter, put the cursor on the entry field and click the […] button, then put the parameter and its value.
      Up to three Custom Parameters are available on each.
    • When you add new keywords under the campaign with the campaign type “Mobile App Download”, required entry items vary with the OS type (iOS or Android) of App which you are going to make advertising promotion. [more details]

How to Create Ads in bulk with the "Add/Update Multiple Ads" button

Steps
  1. Click the "Ads" tab.
  2. Click the "Add/Update Multiple Ads" button.

  4. Select the ad group to create ad in.

  5. Click the "Add Labels" button.
  6. Enter Ad information to add from the second row of Text Area and downward.

    Tips
    ・You can copy and paste content from "CSV" file or in the "Excel" file format.
    ・Click "View samples" link to show data samples.
    ・Enter the URL of the page appears by ad click for "Landing Page URL".
    ・When you create ads of Mobile app download ad (under the campaign with campaign type "Mobile app download"), entry items vary by OS type of the app to be promoted.

  7. Click the "Import" button.

  8. Check the contents on the confirmation screen, and click the "Execute" button if there are no issues.

Tips
  • When you create ads without designating any campaign and ad group, the new campaign "Campaign created by "Add Multiple Ads"" and the new ad group "Ad Group created by "Add Multiple Ads"" will be added to your account and created new ads will be added under the ad group.
  • Adding ads in bulk without designating any ad group in a circumstance that there have been already "Campaign created by "Add Multiple Ads"" and "Ad Group created by "Add Multiple Ads"", new ads will be inserted to the "Ad Group created by "Add Multiple Ads"" which has been already existing.
