Create campaigns

You can create a campaign with the following steps on the Campaign Editor.

Note
  • The process will be completed when the information entered or revised on the Campaign Editor is synchronized to the data stored on the Campaign Management Tool once uploaded from the Campaign Editor.

  • When reflecting the campaign’s “tracking URL” and/or "custom parameter" settings on the Campaign Management Tool, it is a subject for editorial review.
  • Setting the "tracking URL" for the account layer is not available on Campaign Editor. It is supported by the Campaign Management Tool.

How to Create Campaigns by direct entry on the Data Area

Steps
  1. Click the "Campaigns" tab.
  2. Directly enter data while the cursor is in the bottom-most part of the data area.
    Tips
    • You can select display settings, campaign start date, campaign end date, campaign type, etc., on the pull-down menu.
    • When you enter the custom parameter, put the cursor on the entry field and click the "…" button, then put the parameter and its value. Up to three custom parameters are available on each.

How to Create a Campaign from the "Create Campaigns" button (standard campaign)

Steps
  1. Click the ”Campaigns" tab.
  2. Click the "Create Campaign" button.
  3. Select "Standard" from the pull-down menu.
  4. Enter and configure the required items as indicated on the page.
  5. Enter the "Campaign Name."
    A unique name that can be easily identified according to the content, such as service names and product categories.
  6. Select "Display Setting."
  7. Select "start date" of the campaign by the calendar feature.
    If you plan to start operating your campaign right after creating it,
    you can leave it without setting on this item.
  8. Select "End Date" of the campaign.
    If you leave it without a date, the campaign will have no end date.
  9. Enter the amount of "campaign daily budget"
    You can determine the campaign budget to be spent in a single day for Search Ads by setting the campaign daily budget.
    The system automatically controls whether or not to display your ads based on how close the charges are to your specified spending limit. The daily budget must be 100 JPY or more, enter a value in increments of 100 JPY.
    Note
    The budget amount is a rough guideline and is not a guarantee that money will be refunded in case the amount is exceeded.
    Depending on the state and timing of searches and the customer’s settings, actual costs may be more or less than this amount.
  10. Select “bidding.”
    Select "individual CPC", "individual CPC (enhanced CPC)" or any auto bidding type.

    Auto Bidding setting 
    With Standard bidding
    When you select the following auto bidding types with standard bidding, enter the value for each item.
    - Maximize clicks and standard bidding: Bid Limit
    - Target CPA and standard bidding: Target CPA
    - Target ROAS and standard bidding: Target ROAS

    With Portfolio bidding
    When you select any auto bidding type with portfolio bidding, select a name from "Apply existing Auto bidding name"
    Tips
    To set different values for each campaign, select "standard bidding", and to use a fixed value, select "portfolio bidding" when auto bidding is selected.

    Note
    You can't create portfolio bidding on the Campaign Editor. When setting up portfolio bidding, create portfolio bidding on the Campaign Management Tool before creating a campaign.

  11. Configure "bid adjustment."
    Bid adjustment for ad distribution on each device can be set on this item. To display your ads on any device, enable the radio button "Set" and select "Increase by" or "Decrease by", then enter the value.
    The adjustment rate is available as follows:
    • Increase by : 0% - 900%
    • Decrease by : 1% - 90%, or 100%
      *When you select "Decrease by" and set it with "100%", your ads will not be displayed on the selected device.

  12. Configure "ad distribution."
    There are two types, "all ad distribution" and "search only."

    Select one from "Users on the list" or "All users."

  14. Configure "Advanced location options."
    Select an area option of the following three alternatives to displaying ads.
    ・Location of the user, location included in a search query, location of interest
    ・Location of user
    ・Location included in a search query, location of interest

  15. Configure "Location Exclusion options."
    Select an option from the following two for location exclusions.
    ・Location of the user, location included in a search query, location of interest
    ・"Not set", or "Location of user"

  16. Enter the URL Option “Tracking URL”
    If an ad tracking tool is used to obtain data such as click information, place the URL for the ad tracking within “Tracking URL.”
    Tips
    • You can skip this option if you don't use a conversion tracking tool provided by tool vendors.
    • When you do not set up a Target List for the campaign, the selected option on "Target users" is invalid.
  17. Enter the “Custom Parameter”
    Enter the custom parameter, clicking "..." button on the right side of its field. Placing custom parameters in the URL enables URLs such as “Landing Page URL” and “Tracking URL” to include a unique value that will track ad performance.

    Tips
    • Up to 3 custom parameters can be set.
    • When you enter a custom parameter, you need to enter the parameter and the value at the same.
  18. Click "Create" button. When you create another campaign, click "Continue" button.

How to Create a Campaign from the "Create campaigns" button (Mobile app download campaign)

Steps
  1. Click the "Campaigns" tab
  2. Click the "Create campaign" button
  3. Select "Mobile app download" from the pull-down menu.
  4. Enter and configure the required items as indicated on the page.
  5. Enter the "Campaign name."
    A unique name that can be easily identified according to the content, such as service names and product categories.
  6. Select "Display setting."
  7. Select "start date" of the campaign by calendar feature.
    If you plan to start operating your campaign right after creating it,
    you can leave it without setting on this item.
  8. Select the "end date" of the campaign.
    If you leave it without a date, the campaign will have no end date.
  9. Enter the amount of the "campaign daily budget."
    You can determine the campaign budget to be spent in a single day for Search Ads by setting the campaign daily budget.

  10. Select "OS."
    You can select "iOS" or "Android" for the campaign.
  11. Enter the "App ID / Package name."
    For iOS, enter App ID.
    For Android, enter the app package name.
    • App ID for iOS can be confirmed on the URL of the app download page at App Store.
    • The package name for Android can be confirmed on the app detail page at Google Play. And also it can be confirmed on the URL of the app download page at Google Play.
  12. Select “Bidding”
    Select "individual CPC," "individual CPC (enhanced CPC)" or any auto bidding type.

  13. Configure "Bid adjustment."

    When not adding any Target List to this Campaign, "Target users" setting will be ignored.
  16. Configure "Advanced Location options."
    Select an area option of the following three alternatives to displaying ads.
    ・Location of the user, Location included in a search query, Location of interest

    ・Location included in a search query, Location of interest

  17. Enter the “custom parameter.”
    Enter the custom parameter, click "..." button on the right side of its field. Placing custom parameters in the URL enables URLs such as “Landing Page URL” and “Tracking URL” to include a unique value that will track ad performance.

    Tips
    • Up to 3 pieces of custom parameters can be enabled on the setting.
    • To enable the custom parameter option, you need to enter both the parameter and the value.
  18. Select the method to specify the target.
    Select how to specify the website to be an object of Dynamic Ads for Search on the pull-down menu, then enter the following information.
    ・Entire domain
    Select "Entire domain" and enter the domain of the website. You can't enter the part of directories.
     Examples of available domains:
     yahoo.co.jp
     ads.yahoo.co.jp
     www.yahoo.co.jp
    ・Page feed
    Click the "…" button at the right, then select a page feed from the list.
    ・Entire domain and page feed
    When specifying both of whole website and page feed, select the option "Entire domain and page feed" and enter the domain, then set the page feed.
    You need to enter the domain the same as the domain in the page feed.
    Note
    On July 27, 2022, the creation of page feeds in the new format-(new) page feed-became available.The creation of page feeds in the previous format-(prev) page feed-is no longer available.Starting on August 18, 2022, we will run the automatic migration from the previous format to the new one.The (prev) page feeds will stop running after the migration.Learn more on [Search Ads] Dynamic Ads for Search New page feed.

    Tips
    • The page feed is the list of website URL information that to be promoted by Dynamic Ads for Search.

    • You can see the created page feeds in the page feed list.
    • You can select multiple page feeds that has the same domain.
    • Up to 60 page feeds per one campaign.
  19. Click the "Create" button.
    Click "Continue" to create more.

How to Create Campaigns in bulk with the "Add/Update Multiple Campaigns" button

Steps
  1. Click the "Campaigns" tab.
  2. Click the "Add/Update Multiple Campaigns" button.
  3. Select Add/Update method
  4. Click the "Add Labels" button.
  5. Add information about the campaign by entering it from the second row of the text area and downward.
    Tips
    • You can copy and paste content from "CSV" file or in the "Excel" file format.
    • Data entry samples can be reviewed by clicking the “View Samples” at the right end.
  6. Click the "Import" button.
  7. Check the contents on the confirmation screen, and click the "Execute" button if there are no issues.
