What is Ad

Search Ads delivers your ad when the system decides the searched term is highly related to your keywords in websites such as Yahoo! JAPAN and partner sites.

Tips
You won't be charged until your ads are clicked or tapped.

Entities of ad

"Ad" has following entities.

item description
Title The headline of your ad appears in search results.
Description The ad text appears in search results.
Display URL The URL appears together with the title and description as a part of the ad.
Landing Page URL The URL set as the Web page to display when the ad is clicked on.
Smartphone Landing Page URL The URL set as the page for smartphone to display when the ad is clicked on user's smartphone.
*However it is not required in case when there is no page specifically for smartphone device, or the page support both of PC and smartphone devices.
Label of Download site

Common label of App download site ('App Store' or 'Google Play')

Tips
  • The displayed label varies by OS type on the delivered device.
    - For AndroidOS device: "Download from Google Play"
    - For iOS device: "Download from App Store"
  • This label is seen only for the case of Mobile App Download ad , and in the case of ad display on the results on Yahoo! JAPAN main search.
Tips
To measure advertising effectiveness, you can add tracking URL, custom parameter, etc. Learn more on Tracking Information (Tracking URL and Custom Parameter).

 

Available ads for delivery

Available ads varies depending on "Campaign Type" set when creating campaigns.

Standard
campaign

Creating ads which will be displayed for PC / Smartphone / Tablet. The format type of Standard Campaign is "Extended Text Ad."

Note
The ad format "Advanced URL" has been sunset on March 8, 2017. Please use "Extended Text Ad" for your campaign from now on.

Dynamic Ads for Search
campaign

You can create Dynamic Ads for Search. It automatically generates the title of the ads for the keywords that are related to the website to promote. You can expect more visitors to your website by using Dynamic Ads for Search because in addition to the keywords you had added, it delivers ads for the keywords that are highly related to the specified URL. '"Dynamic Ads for Search" appears in the "Ad Type" column in the ad list in the Campaign Management Tool.

Mobile App
Download
campaign

Creating ads which will be displayed for the promotion purpose of App for Smartphone / Tablet. It will enable you to make the promotion effective by delivery for App OS.

Tips
If you make settings of 'OS' on creating Mobile App Download campaign, your ad of the app for iPhone/iPad can be delivered to iOS devices, and the ad  for Android app can be delivered to AndroidOS devices.
Note
When the volume of app component exceeds a certain level, your ad may be delivered to users only with Wi-Fi network environment.

Requirements for each ad contents by campaign type

Required items and length vary by 'Campaign Type' set for the campaign level.
Make sure the details in the following table.

■Standard Campaign
Currently available ad format is "Extended Text Ad" when you create an ad.
*Note that the former format "Advanced URL" has been sunset on March 8, 2017.

  Extended Text Ad
Characters How they are counted
Title Up to 30 characters in two rows
(max 60 characters)
Counts two for double and single byte kana. Counts one for single-byte numbers and letters.
Description Up to 80 characters
Display URL This item will be automatically generated with the part of "xxx.jp" or "xxxx.com" etc.,
entered for Landing Page URL. You do not need to enter specifically.
example:
When your Landing Page URL is "http://www.example.co.jp", the display URL "example.co.jp"
will be generated and the URL "example.co.jp" will appear as display URL on ad delivery.
Display URL's
directory 1&2
Up to 15 half-width characters for each directory*When you make setting of additional
directory to the automatically generated Display URL.
example:
When your Landing Page URL is "http://www.example.co.jp" and with directory1 is
"shopping", and with directory2 is "mensfashion", the display URL "example.co.jp"
will be generated and the URL "example.co.jp/shopping/mensfashion" will appear
as display URL on ad delivery.
Counts two for double and single byte kana. Counts one for single-byte numbers and letters.
Landing Page URL up to 1024 bytes
*Japanese URL available
Counts one for single byte, three for double byte.

■Dynamic Ads for Search campaign

Title Not needed: title will be automatically generated based on the 'Page URL' (title and contents of the website) that had added on page feed for the campaign.
Description Up to 80 characters Counts two for double and single byte kana. Counts one for single-byte numbers and letters.
Display URL Not needed: display URL will be automatically generated based on the landing page URL automatically set.
Landing Page URL Not needed: landing page URL will be automatically set from the 'Page URL' set on the page feed for the campaign.
Smartphone Landing Page URL Not needed: URL for smartphone will be automatically set based on the 'Page URL'.


■Mobile App Download campaign

  Characters How they are counted
Title Up to
25 characters
Counts one for single byte, three for double byte.
Description Up to
35×2
(max 70 characters)
*Two lines appears as one line when appeared as an ad.
Display URL

Not needed: display URL will be automatically set for each OS type.

  • For Android OS devices:
    "play.google.com/store"
  • For iOS devices:
    "itunes.apple.com"
Landing
Page
URL
URL of the Download page will be generated with OS and appID/package
name entered for campaign creation. You don't need to specify for each ad.
•For Android OS device:
You can add a parameter on Destination URL, which is used for tracking
by analysis tool.
The total length of URL with added parameter is up to 1024 characters.
Counts one for single byte, three for double byte.
Japanese URL is supported.

–Generated Destination URL will have the symbol '& (half-width, ampersand)'
at the end.
–If you don't use tracking tool, parameter is not required. When using it, contact your tool provider for details.
• For iOS device:
You can edit the generated Destination URL. When you edit Destination URL,
you need to put the URL which leads to app download page, up to 1024 characters.
Counts one for single byte, three for double byte.
Japanese URL is supported.

Editing existing ads (title, description, URL) is not available.
If you edit after created, create a new ad. And also we will recommend you to delete unnecessary ads or turn off its display setting.
