Payment method and procedure (domestic wire transfer/credit card)

To start using Search Ads and YDN, you need to make a payment in advance. For the specified agencies, invoice plans are available.

Your payment goes to Search Ads or YDN account's "Account Balance." When your ads get clicks, the cost of each click is subtracted from the account balance. Ad delivery stops when this account balance becomes "0 JPY."

Available payment methods are wire transfer and credit card.

Tips

Payment by Wire Transfer (in Japan domestic)

Wire transfer is available for a manual charge (make payment each time). You need to burden the transfer fee. We provide a unique bank account number for each advertiser.
If you make a payment via wire transfer in Japan, it may take 3 business days to process.

If your domestic payment does not reflect your account after 3 business days, please contact us.
Steps
  1. From the top bar, click Search Ads or Display Ads.
  2. Click Account Balance.
  3. Click "Create" in the "Pay by Wire Transfer" field at the right.
  4. Check the information displayed on the "Wire Instructions".
    Bank account details can be printed by clicking "Print Wire Transfer Information."
    *"Payer Name" may not appear for overseas accounts. In that case, you need to contact us after making the payment. Please refer < International Wire Transfer> section.

    A bank account number is unique to each account, so check that the correct account is selected for "Select Account" on the upper left of the screen.

Note

For Domestic Wire Transfers

  • The paid amount may not be reflected in your account if the payer name is in English, or you entered unnecessary information such as Account ID other than Payer Name (in kana).
  • If you update the “Company Name (Furigana)” of the “Company Information (Registered HQ Address)” registered in Yahoo! Business Manager, then “Payer Name” will also be updated. (Available only for domestic accounts)
  • The bank account number is unique to each [Search Ads] and [YDN] account. If you have multiple accounts, bank account numbers are different between them. For this reason, please confirm the bank account number when making a wire transfer.

International Wire Transfer

International wire transfer is acceptable, but you need to contact us after making the payment. Please refer to the following help topic for the details.

Payment by Credit Card

To pay by a credit card, you need to register your credit card information in Yahoo! Business Manager. Enter the payment amount after completing the registration process.

The following credit cards are currently available.

  • VISA
  • Master Card
  • JCB
  • Diners Club
  • American Express
Note
  • When you register or change the credit card, you may be asked for a 3D Secure (payer authentication). If you have trouble with the authentication, check with your credit card company.
  • You don't need to go through the 3D Secure every time you make payment.

How to Register Credit Card

To use your credit card for payment, you need to register your credit card information in Yahoo! Business Manager. Follow the steps below.

  1. From the top bar, click Search Ads or Display Ads.
  2. Click Account Balance.
  3. In "Pay by Credit Card", click the "Register Credit Card Information (on Yahoo! Business Manager)".
  4. Register your credit card information on the "Register a New Credit Card" screen.
  5. Once you registered the credit card information, click "Return to Original Service" to return to the Campaign Management tool.
  6. Then, perform automatic payment or manual payment with a credit card on the Campaign Management tool. For details, see the steps below.

Credit card payment is available for both automatic charge where payment is automatically made after your settings and for manual charge where you need to perform transaction each time. Follow the steps below.

Automatic Payment by Credit Card

Automatic payment ("automatic charge") means that when your remaining balance becomes low, a predefined amount with consumption tax amount is automatically billed to your credit card.

  1. From the top bar, click Search Ads or Display Ads.
  2. Click Account Balance.
  3. Check that your credit card information appears in the "Pay by Credit Card" field. If it is not displayed, refer to "How to Pay for Charge by Credit Card" and enter your credit card information.
  4. In the "Automatic Charge (unset)" field on the “Payment” page, select “Automatic Charge” and enter the amount in "Amount Added to Account Balance" (not including consumption tax) beneath.
    *The amount you enter must be at least 3,000 yen (unit: 1,000 yen)

  5. Mark the checkbox after confirming the notes, and then click the [Review] button.

  6. Confirm the bank account on the automatic confirmation screen, mark the settings on the account, and then click the [Submit] button.
Note
  • The payment method can only be set or changed by the "tool administrator". When the user without tool administrator permission logs in, the [Account Balance] tab will not be displayed: credit card registration, automatic payment setting or cancellation is not available.
  • To change the tool administrator, you need to add a new administrator. Before changing the tool administrator, check that the new tool administrator can operate under the [Account Balance] tab.
  • Automatic Charge will run when your account balance becomes zero JPY or drops below the amount of the average cost per click for 5 days. The charge runs up to 3 times a day depending on the clicks and the amount paid.
    *On May 15, 2018, a number of times the automatic charge runs changed from 1 time a day to 3 times a day. If you are concerned about exceeding the advertising budget by this charge timing increase, please use 'Monthly Automatic Charge' and make the payment once a month.   • Average Click Charge is the average cost of the last three days with actual value.
  • The automatic charge will not run if the account display settings are 'Off'.

If you have a credit card registered, you can use “Monthly Automatic Charge” in which the amount you set will be charged only once a month to avoid spending too much money on ads.

Manual Payment by Credit Card

Manual payment ("manual charge") is a payment method in which you check the account balance by yourself. Use this method to make a payment when you want to check the account balance each time.

Steps
  1. From the top bar, click Search Ads or Display Ads.
  2. Click Account Balance.
  3. Check that your credit card information appears in the "Pay by Credit Card" field. If it is not displayed, refer to "How to Pay for Charge by Credit Card" above to enter your credit card information.
  4. On the "Payment" screen, "Manual Charge" field, enter the "Amount Added to Account Balance".
    *Minimum amount is 3,000 JPY. Enter in 1,000 units.

About consumption tax

All advertisers on Yahoo! JAPAN Ads outside Japan will not be taxed.

Note
Under a change in the law that will take effect on October 1, 2015, the consumption tax applied to electronic services such as digital content distribution, provided to a business outside Japan, will be non-taxable.
Upon receiving this legal amendment, following the guideline issued by the National Tax Agency of Japan, Yahoo! JAPAN will NOT charge the consumption tax to all businesses outside Japan on or after October 1, 2015.
In line with this, all of Yahoo! JAPAN Ads users outside Japan will be subject to non-taxable.
