Conversion Analytics

Conversion analytics measures the actions of internet users who had encountered your ads. These beneficial actions to your business are called conversions. It will help you check how ads are working.

Examples of beneficial actions:
-Specific actions on your website (a purchase, subscription, request)
-Phone call
-App download
-Specific actions offline

Benefits of conversion tracking

By tracking conversions you can check how Search Ads are contributing to the sales and recognition of products and services of the advertiser.
You can also use the results to improve ad management.

How conversion tracking works

To use the Yahoo! Ads conversion (online and click to call), install a conversion tag in your webpage. The conversion tag tracks users' clicks in the past. By setting the conversion tag in the web page after the purchase, you can check if that user had clicked the ad before.

*What are tags?
HTML tags are used to emphasize set of characters or show images and URL links on the websites.
Other than giving the style to the website, there are tags to collect information of visitors.

When installing the conversion tag to track online conversions, you need the knowledge of HTML and the administrator permission for the website.
You don't need to install conversion tags when you track offline conversion or app download.

Available Conversion Types

Four types of conversions are available on Search Ads.

Conversion
Counts conversions for visitors on your website through Search Ads.
It is counted using login and Cookie information. Click history within the counting period makes valid conversion. Note that the visitors’ browser setting must accept cookies.
Click-to-call
Conversion
Counts numbers of taps/clicks of button/link to make a phone call on your website via Search Ads.
It is counted using login and Cookie information. Click history within the counting period makes valid conversion. Note that the visitors’ browser setting must accept cookies.
App
Conversion
Counts conversions for:
-Number of App downloads via “Google Play Store App”
-Number of App first launch
-Users’ conversions in the App.

Click history within 30 days from the ad click makes a valid conversion.
Note
  • Available only for Android App. App for iOS cannot be tracked.
  • Auto created conversion setting will appear when you create a new App download campaign after November 8, 2017.
Offline conversion Tracks specific actions (phone call, store visit) offline.
You can track offline conversions by importing conversion events associated with a "YCLID" to the Campaign management tool.
“YCLID” adds an identification to the ad click by internet users. It works when the Auto-tagging is “On” in the account level.
