Create a performance report

This page describes how to create a performance report.

  • You must have "Admin," "Edit," or "Read-only" access to create a report. Learn more on "Manage account access."
  • Performance reports include data on removed entities (ads, etc.). However, the following data aren't included:
    • Ads under the review
    • Ads removed before the review completes
  • The predefined (recommended) setting is available. Learn more about Create Performance Reports (Applying Recommended Settings)

Create a Performance Report


  1. From the top bar, click "Search Ads."
  2. From the second top bar, click ▼ next to "Report," then select "Performance Report."
  3. Click "+Create New Report."
  4. Select a report type.

    *The setting items in the following steps vary depending on the selected report.
  5. "Display by"
    You can select units such as a day, week, month, quarter, year, day of the week, device, ad distribution. The available units vary depending on the report type. Click "Add Item" and select one from the drop-down menu.
    You can't select the same unit multiple times.
    • You can't select the same unit multiple times.
    • The selected unit appears in the first column.
  6. "Items Displayed"
    You can add more columns from "Items Displayed."
    In addition to the mandatory basic items, optional items can also be selected to display in reports.
    Click "Open Items" and Required Items, Default items, Optional items will appear. Select the items to include in the report.
  7. "Sort Items"
    To sort selected columns, drag them. To restore the default settings, click "Back to Default Order."
    • Reports appear in descending order.
    • To verify reports sorted by date, create the reports by date, download the reports, and then sort by date.
  8. Select the duration.
    You can select a date range or specify the date from the drop-down menu. Select a duration from "Select period." "Select a month" to specify a month.

    Search Ads performance report provides the data after October 11, 2011.

    This section isn't available for some report types.

  10. Set filters.
    You can narrow down the data using filters. [Learn more]
    The following filters are set as default to exclude elements not delivered from the report.
    "Impressions" "1" "greater than or equals"
    To create reports including elements not delivered, remove this filter.
  11. Select how you create a report.
    -Report only: Create a report one time.
    -Create Report and Template: Create a report and a template using the selected column set.
    • A template will have the same column set you selected for the current report.
    • Use templates to get reports automatically created on a regular basis.
    • When you select "Create Report and Template," sections in Steps 15 and 16 appear.
  12. Enter a report name.
    When you enter a report name, it will appear as a template name.
  13. Select a file format.
    In addition to CSV, TSV, XML, compressed files (ZIP) are available.
  14. Select a duration.
    You can choose when to create a report using a template. Select from "Everyday," "Weekly (Specified Day of Week)," or "Select Date (Schedule Every Month)." "One-time" can also be selected to create a report once, instead of on a regular basis.
    • This section won't appear when you select "Report Only" in Step 11.
    • When the month ends before the date you specify (29, 30, 31), the report will be created on the previous day. 
  15. Receive a notification.
    You can receive an email when a report is ready. Click “Set Recipients” and enter the email address. 
    • This section won't appear when you select "Report Only" in Step 11.
    • Up to 5 email addresses
    • To add email addresses, click "+Add Email Address." To remove an email address, click “Delete.” 
    • A notification email won't have an attached report. Download it from the Campaign Management Tool.
    • If you select “One-time,” you won't receive a notification.
  16. Click "Create." 
    You can view a created report from "Created Search Ads Reports” in "Performance Report." 
    You can view created templates from the “Create Report” link in the “Search Ads Report Template List.”

You can select the following elements for each report type.

*You can select multiple campaigns or ad groups. You can't select campaigns or ad groups on the account or ad display option reports.

9.1. Under "Display Target," select a radio button for "Selected Campaign" or "Selected Ad Group."

9.2. Select the campaign and/or ad group.

<Select Ads or Keywords as Item>
9.1. From "Items," select "Selected Ad Groups / Keywords" or "Selected Ad Groups / Ads."
9.2. Select the campaign and ad group._

9.3. From the bottom right of the table, click "Select Ads" or "Select Keywords."
9.4. Select ads or keywords.

10. Filter [Back to Step10]

You can narrow down the data using filters.

<How to set filter>
10.1. Click "Open Items" and select the item to filter.
10.2. Enter a value when needed.
10.3. Select a condition from the drop-down menu when available.
10.4. To add more filters, click "+Add Items." 

  • Up to 5 filters are available.
  • To use the column as a filter, select it in "Items Displayed."
