Why my ad is not displayed?

Display Settings are Set as "Off"

Display settings (On / Off) can be made at the Account, Campaign, Ad Group, Keyword, and Ad level. Therefore, even if the Keyword or Ad itself is set as "On", the Display Settings for the higher-level components may be set otherwise. Review the Display Settings and take appropriate actions.

Account Balance is "0"

If the Account Balance reaches "0" (zero), your Ads will not be displayed. Please check your Account Balance and make payments accordingly.

Keywords/Ads are Pending, or Declined after Editorial Review

Your Keywords and Ads will go through the Editorial Review based on our Editorial Guidelines.
For each ad and keyword registered, we perform editorial reviews via the system and visual inspection. It can take up to 3 business days to show the ad you submitted. As we are regularly reviewing the advertising policies, the ad already running and the registered keyword will also be subject to review. If the review indicates that your ad and/or keyword violates a policy, we will stop showing it.
The Editorial Status and results can be checked from the Campaign Management Tool.
Furthermore, it will take around 3 business days to review ad components.
How to Check an Editorial Status.

Campaign Daily Budget

The Search Ads system controls the frequency of Ads being displayed so that the Campaign’s Click Charge gets closer to Campaign Daily Budget. Therefore, when the Bid amount for Ad Group and Keyword under the Campaign is high, or the number of registered Keywords is large, Ad Display frequency will be lower. Please refer to the following points to make the Ad Display unset time short.

  • Review keywords of the campaign
  • Review the bid amount of the ad group/keyword
  • Review the Campaign daily budget

Having Low Impression Keywords

Ads for Keywords with low impressions may not be displayed.
If the number of searches increases for the Keyword, the Ad will be displayed to the audience.

Negative Keywords

Your Ads may not be displayed to the audience due to the Negative Keywords set at Campaign or Ad Group levels.
Please check the added Negative Keywords and their Match Type by the Negative Keywords Tool and Negative Keyword List.
Furthermore, the Negative Keywords which had been added on the former Search Ads platform have been transitioned as "Phrase Match" basis to the current Search Ads. In this case, if the Negative Keyword includes the same phrase as a Keyword, your Ad for those Keywords may not be displayed to the audience.

Keyword Match Type is not ”Broad Match"

Your ads may not be displayed to the audience when specifying keyword match type as 'Modified Broad Match', 'Phrase Match' or 'Exact Match'. Please confirm and consider to set 'Broad Match' for your keywords.

Targeting settings

Targeting features such as Geographic, Day of Week/Hours, Device, etc., are supported on Search Ads. The setting may narrow down the audience of your ads. Please confirm and consider the setting in detail.

Target List with reaches less than 1,000 for Campaign/Ad Group

If you use the Site Retargeting feature to deliver your ads, the Target List for the feature should have 1,000 reaches at least for work. If you set a Target List with reaches less than 1,000, your ads will not be delivered to users.
Please check the number of reaches of Target List set for Site Retargeting on the 'Target Lists' page.
*Even if the number of Reaches exceeds 1,000, ads may not be delivered to users in some cases with system decisions.

Low "Ad Quality" and Bid

If your Ad Position is low, your ad may not appear.
Ad position is determined by “Auction Rank”. It is based on Bid set up to Ad Group or Keyword, and “Ad Quality”. If you re-examine them, your Ad Position may be higher.

Trademark restriction for ad text

On Search Ads, the use of a trademark by a third party may be restricted when the trademark owner requests the restriction of trademark on ads to protect the brand.
If the ad contains the restricted trademark, it will not be delivered.

All options of ‘for Auto Bidding’ are set as ‘Exclude’ for Conversion settings

When you selected any of ‘Target CPA’, ‘Target ROAS’ or ‘Enhanced CPC’ for the bidding method of the campaign, set one or more ‘for Auto Bidding’ options as ‘Include’ on Conversion settings which is appropriate for the campaign.

If you set the option ‘for Auto Bidding’ as ‘Exclude’, the number of conversions of your ads may not increase or your ads may not be displayed for users, because of an accuracy issue on auto bidding.

Ad customizer setting isn't correct
For the ads using the ad customizer, ads won't deliver if you don't have neither ordinary ads nor the default texts. When you don't have ordinary ads in your ad group, set default texts.
