Bidding setting on Campaigns

Bids you set on the campaign level will be applied to ad groups under the campaign. Bidding type can be selected when editing the campaign settings or creating a new one.

Bidding methods

There are two bidding methods, "manual bidding" and "auto bidding".

Manual bidding:
Sets the ad group or keyword bid individually under the campaign. The bid can be set from 1 JPY to 80,000 JPY. When Enhanced CPC is enabled, the bid is automatically adjusted to maximize conversions.

Auto bidding
Keyword bid will be automatically adjusted depending on the goals of the campaign and the auto bidding type you set.
There are four auto bidding types, and their goals are different.

Auto bidding has two bidding types.

Standard bidding
Bidding type is set on campaign level.

Portfolio bidding
Bidding type is set on account level and can be applied to multiple campaigns.

Note
  • When you change the bid for ad group or keyword under the campaign that has auto bidding, the bid for ad group or keyword is temporarily applied. If you turn the display setting off after the change, the bid for ad group or keyword is temporarily applied after turning on the display setting.
  • When you set auto bidding, ad rotation “Optimize” is applied when delivering ads even if you select “Rotate Evenly.”

Edit the bidding from Campaign Settings

Steps
  1. Click the [Search Ads] tab of the Campaign Management Tool.
  2. Click the [Campaigns] tab.
  3. From the campaign list in the navigation area on the left, click the Campaign you want to edit.
  4. Click the 'Campaign Settings' on the right.


  5. Click the 'Edit' besides the 'Budget and Ad Conditions' on "Campaign Settings" page.
  6. Select the bidding option. 

    For ‘Manual bidding: individual CPC’ 
    Enable the checkbox of 'Enhanced CPC' to activate it.

    For ‘Auto Bidding’
    Select 'Bidding type'.
    Tips
    To set different values for each campaign, select 'Standard bidding,' and to use fixed value, select 'Portfolio bidding' when auto bidding is selected.
    With Standard bidding
    When you select following Auto bidding types with Standard bidding, enter value for each item.
    - Maximize Clicks and Standard bidding: Bid Limit 
    - Target CPA and Standard bidding: Target CPA
    - Target ROAS and Standard bidding: Target ROAS

    With Portfolio bidding
    When you select any Auto bidding type with Portfolio bidding, select a name from 'Apply existing Auto bidding name'.
    Tips
    You can also create a new Portfolio Bidding for Auto Bidding by selecting 'Create New'.
  7. Click the "Save Changes" button to save the setting.

 

Edit Auto Bidding setting from Campaign List

Steps
  1. Click the [Search Ads] tab of the Campaign Management Tool.
  2. Click the [Campaigns] tab.
  3. Click the 'Campaign' in the 'Select Items' in the center of the page.
  4. Enable the checkbox of the campaign to edit, click the "Edit" button<select "Edit Bidding Method".
  5. On the "Edit Bidding Method" page, select the Auto Bidding setting to apply from the list.

    For ‘Manual bidding: individual CPC’

    Enable the checkbox of 'Enhanced CPC' to activate it.

    For ‘Auto Bidding’
    Select 'Bidding type'.
    Tips
    To set different values for each campaign, select 'Standard bidding,' and to use fixed value, select 'Portfolio bidding' when auto bidding is selected.
    With Standard bidding
    When you select following Auto bidding types with Standard bidding, enter value for each item.
    - Maximize Clicks and Standard bidding: Bid Limit

    With Portfolio bidding
    When you select any Auto bidding type with Portfolio bidding, select a name from 'Apply existing Auto bidding name'

  6. Click "Apply" button.
