How Responsive Ads for Search works

"Assets" refers to titles and descriptions for Responsive Ads for Search.
Add multiple assets and let the system generate your ads. It will test different combinations and try to optimize your ads.

Five points to effectively use Responsive Ads for Search

There are five points to use Responsive Ads for Search effectively.

  1. Create one Responsive Ads for Search per ad group.
  2. Add as many assets as you can (Having more than five titles is recommended) for the system to optimize your ads.
  3. Wait for a while. The system needs time to learn which combinations perform best.  
  4. Comparing CTR of Responsive Ads for Search and extended text ads isn't recommended.
  5. Check the performance of the entire ad group. You can expect a rise in impressions, clicks, and conversions for the entire ad group.

Position pinning

You can pin the position of the assets in the title and description when it is displayed.
Select from Don't pin, First, Second, Third (for the title only).

・If you set position pinning, only the pinned assets will be displayed in that position. If you specify more than one asset at the same position, only one of the multiple assets will be displayed in that position.
・To increase the performance of advertising, we recommend using the "Don't pin." Please use the pinning function only when necessary, such as when there is content designated by Advertisement Editorial Guidelines.
Display URLThe domain part, such as "xxxx.jp" and "xxxx.com", of the URL specified as the Landing Page URL will be generated automatically. You do not need to enter it yourself.
Example:
When the Landing Page URL is "http://www.example.co.jp," Display URL "example.co.jp" will be generated automatically. The Display URL will be "example.co.jp" when the ad is delivered.
Display URL

Up to 15 characters each

*Use this when you want to set optional characters to the automatically generated Display URL.
Example:
When the Landing Page URL is "http://www.example.co.jp," and directory 1 is "shopping," and directory 2 is "mensfasion," the Display URL "example.co.jp" will be generated automatically. The Display URL will be "example. co.jp/shopping/mensfasion" when the ad is delivered.

Counts full and half-width kana as 2 characters, and half-width alphanumeric as a character
Landing page URL

1,024 bytes
URL in Japanese is available.

Counts a half-width character as one byte, a full-width character as three bytes.

Tips
  • Embedded function such as auto insertion of geographic locations is available for assets of titles and descriptions. You can use up to three embedded functions per asset for Responsive Ads for Search.

  • You can't use an ad customizer for Responsive Ads for Search.
  • You can’t change (edit) the ad creative. When you need to edit it, create a new ad.

You can check the impressions and performance ratings for each asset in Responsive Ads for Search.

Tips

*The ad with the target asset needs 5,000 or more impressions in about 30 days to show the performance ratings.


You can check by clicking "Asset details" under the ad name in the list screen that appears when you select "Ads" in the "Select items" section of the Campaigns screen in the Campaign Management Tool.

The "Performance ratings" displayed on the asset details screen shows the current rating regardless of the duration displayed on the upper right.
