Apply final URL format (cross accounts)

The feature to convert ads in destination URL format (old) to final URL format is now available on the Campaign Management Tool.
This help page describes the feature detail of converting ads under the multiple accounts and how to use the feature.
*When you convert ad items of campaigns and ad groups under an account, check “Apply final URL format”.

Tips
Learn about previous and new formats on "Apply final URL format".
Note
The destination URL format (previous) will close in the future, except for some items in Dynamic Ads for Display. Consider converting to the new age groups in advance.

Details of apply final URL format (cross accounts)

  • By uploading CSV file including the ad account ID via the Campaign Management Tool, you can convert ads under your multiple accounts to the final URL format at once.
  • Ads that have failed to convert can be converted again by editing and uploading the error file.
  • Converting feature will skip ad contents added with final URL.
  • This feature is available on Display Ads (Auction) only.

We recommend using the converting feature to the new format.

We will process converting automatically for ads in the old format in the near future, but please make sure that the following situation may occur on the process.
Therefore, we recommend using the converting feature to the new format by yourself.

  • Since the converting automatically processes based on the defined rules, the results may not be meet your expectation in some cases.
  • When the domain of destination URL and display URL don’t match, the converting to the new format will fail and your ads may be paused as a result.

How to use “apply final URL format (cross accounts)”

Steps to use “apply final URL format (cross accounts)” feature are as follows.

1. Download a template

3. Import the file and convert

1. Download a template

Tips
  • Download the Item list template on the first converting.
  • If an error occurs and you retry converting, you can use the error file to import. You can download the error file from the view of history of converting in the list. You can refer “Check the result” for more details.
Steps
  1. Sign in to the Campaign Management Tool, select the account of Display Ads at Select Account view.
  2. Click the “Tools” at the top right, then click “Apply to the final URL”.
  3. At the top right of “Apply final URL format” view, click “Go to Apply final URL format”.
  4. Click any of the following links and download the template file.
    • Download template (UTF-8)
    • Download template (Shift JIS)

      Tips
      Available character codes are UTF-8 and Shift JIS for the template file.
      When you use Excel in Windows PC, use Shift JIS format.
  5. Edit the downloaded file and create an import file.
    For more about items in the import file, check “Create import file”.

2. Create a import file

Depending on the input contents of the import file, the way of converting and whether reviewed or not will differ as follows.
Consider the conversion method by referring to the assumed cases, and check the items that need to be entered.

Tips
If you are still uncertain about the converting method even after checking the expected usage cases, we recommend "Specify only the account ID (URL automatically set)" that allows you to easily convert ads under multiple accounts.

Specify only account ID (URL automatically set)

When specifying only the account ID to be converted, the system automatically determines the final URL by comparing the values of “destination URL” and “display URL” that have been set to the ads before converted.
When the URL is automatically determined, your site will be crawled based on the destination URL.
The process is done by system automatically, so the converted ads are not subject to editorial review.

When converting ads under multiple accounts in bulk
Tips
For Carousel ads, converting is available only when all of the following domains match.
  • Destination URL of each carousel card
  • Destination URL of the ad
  • Display URL of the ad
If the above does not apply, an error will occur and converting will not be possible.
It does not crawl the website for carousel ads.

Specify account ID and final URL etc. (URL manually set)

When specifying the account ID to be converted and the final URL, the system does not determine the final URL automatically and does not crawl your websites.
The value specified manually is set in the URL items such as the final URL. Therefore, converted ads are subject to editorial review.

For Carousel ads, the entered information will be set to carousel cards also.

Tips
  • When the total number of ads to be converted in one import file exceeds 1 million, it cannot be converted. Separate the file and import it.
  • You cannot import a file that has both automatic and manual settings. Separate the files and import them separately.

3. Import the file and convert

Import the import file created on 2 and convert.

Steps
  1. Sign in to the Campaign Management Tool, select the account of Display Ads at Select Account view.
  2. Click the “Tools” at the top right, then click “Apply to the final URL”.
  3. At the top right of “Apply final URL format” view, click “Go to Apply final URL format”.
  4. Click “Browse...” and select a file to import.
  5. Click “Convert.”
    Tips
    • If edited ads during converting process and the ad is in review, the ad is not converted.
    • If there is an input error in the file (such as the account ID of a specific line is incorrect, the final URL is not in the designated URL format, etc.), the converting process will not be executed. Download the error file to check results in details.

Check the result

You can check the history of converting in the list on “Apply final URL format (cross accounts)”.
From the list of change history, you can download the following file as the converted results.

  • Actions
    The imported contents can be downloaded in a file.
  • Error file
    You can download the ads that failed to convert to the final URL format and the error content in a file. You can retry converting by editing the file and import it. You can check the reason of error on the “Error message” field.
Note
The list displays only the results of Yahoo! JAPAN business ID that is sign-in.
Tips
The error file also contains items with "(can't edit)" added to the item name (such as "account name (can't edit)"). The items can't be edited are not used for converting even if you enter any values.
When you edit the error file and create an import file, check the required items on “Create a import file > Specifications of import file”.
