Audience list targeting

Audience list targeting allows you to deliver ads (or do not deliver ads) to users in your list by creating an audience list based on different types of data sources (audience sources) and associating the list with an ad group.

What you can do with the audience list targeting :

Following targetings will become available when you use audience list targeting.

1. Deliver ads to users who visit your website (site retargeting)

One of targeting function for displaying ads to users who have visited the advertiser’s websites in the past.

The audience list types and audience sources when setting this targeting are as follows.

  • Audience list type:Website visitors
  • Audience source:Site retargeting tag
Tips

We recommend using the “website visitors” feature that works as same as “rules” of the audience list types. The “rules” will be discontinued in the near future.

2. Deliver ads to users based on your original user list

It is a targeting feature that allows advertisers to deliver ads using own user list by associating the user list created by accumulating and analyzing to the audience list.

How to link the user list depends on the tool you are using and the type of data to be linked. The audience list and audience source that need to be created differ depending on the linkage method. Learn more details on the followings:

How to link user list:

  1. Import user list files directly from the Campaign Management Tool
    • Audience list type:Customer data
    • Audience source:Customer data file
      Import data and create audience list
      Tips
      It can be used with the audience list type “custom”, but importing files is not available when creating a new list. We recommend using the “customer data” feature that works as same as “custom”. The “custom” will be discontinued in the near future.
  2. Import user list file via Display Ads API
  3. Link user list via data integration tool

3. Deliver ads to users by using app usage information

This is a targeting feature that delivers ads based on the information on user actions (installation, purchasing, etc.) that occur within the app provided by the advertiser.

The audience list types and audience sources when setting this targeting are as follows.

  • Audience list type:Rule
  • Audience source:(none)

4. Deliver ads to users with similar behavior history

Create a list of users with similar behavior history to internet users in your already created audience list, and deliver ads to a wider audience.

The audience list types and audience sources when setting this targeting are as follows.

  • Audience list type:Similar audience
  • Audience source:(Audience source of the based audience list)

5. Deliver ads to a wider user by combining multiple audience lists

Create a list that combines multiple audience lists and deliver ads to a wider variety of users.
