Audience list targeting

Audience list targeting is a feature that lets you create an audience list based on various types of data sources (audience sources). Associate them to ad groups and deliver (or not deliver) ads to the audience included in the list.

What you can do with the audience list targeting :

Audience list targeting allows you for the following targeting.

 1. Deliver ads to users who visit your website (site retargeting)

One of the targeting functions for displaying ads to users who have visited the advertiser’s websites in the past.

To set up this targeting, select the following audience list type and audience source:

  • Audience list type: Website visitors
  • Audience source: Site retargeting tag
Tips

We recommend using the “website visitors” that works as same as the “rules” of the audience list types. The “rules” will be discontinued in the near future.

2. Deliver ads to users based on your original user list

It is a targeting feature that lets advertisers deliver ads using their own user list by associating the user list created by accumulating and analyzing the audience list.

How to link the user list depends on the tool you are using and the type of data to be linked. The audience list and audience source need to be created differently depending on the connecting method. Learn more:

How to link a user list:

  1. Import user list files directly from the Campaign Management Tool
    • Audience list type: Customer data
    • Audience source: Customer data file
      Import data and create audience list of customer data
      Tips
      The audience list type "Custom" is available, but importing files isn't available when creating a new list. We recommend using the “customer data” feature that works as same as the “custom.” The “custom” will be discontinued in the near future.
  2. Import user list file via Display Ads API
  3. Link user list through data-connecting tool

3. Deliver ads to users by using app usage information

This is a targeting feature that delivers ads based on the information on user actions (installation, purchasing, etc.) that occur within the app provided by the advertiser.

The audience list types and audience sources when setting this targeting are as follows.

  • Audience list type: Rule
  • Audience source: (none)

4. Deliver ads to users with similar behavior history

Create a list of users with similar behavior history to internet users in your already created audience list, and deliver ads to a wider audience.

The audience list types and audience sources when setting this targeting are as follows.

  • Audience list type: Similar audience
  • Audience source: (Audience source of the base audience list)

5. Deliver ads to a wider user by combining multiple audience lists

Create a list that combines multiple audience lists and delivers ads to a wider variety of users.

  • Audience list type: Combination
