Select conversions used for autobidding optimization by each campaign

On Display Ads, you can select conversion settings or conversion groups (groups of two or more conversion settings) by each campaign.
The conversions measured by the selected conversion settings will appear in the "Conversions" column of the campaign and will be used to optimize the autobidding.
The autobidding accuracy is expected to improve because these new features will allow you to use conversion points with a high conversion rate and conversions of each product for optimizing the campaign.

Tips
When you set a bid strategy other than autobidding, selecting conversion settings by each campaign used for optimization will not affect ad delivery but the method of tracking conversions per campaign will change.

Selecting conversions to use for optimization in a campaign

You can select the conversion action used for autobidding optimization from Campaigns > "Conversion action for optimization" column on the Campaign Management Tool.
Learn more about “Create campaigns.”

Use account-level conversion setting

When "Conversion action for optimization" is selected, the conversion settings in your account to optimize autobidding is used. Only the "Include in conversions" setting is used,
Learn more on “The method of tracking “conversions”.”

Settings
Conversion Settings with "Include in conversions" selected will be used for optimization.

Select conversion settings by each campaign used for optimization

When you select this column for “Conversion action for optimization,” select “conversion setting” or “conversion group” to use for optimization of autobidding.
Learn more on “The method of tracking “conversions”.”

Conversion Settings

Select the conversion settings to use for optimization from the list.

Settings
Because there is a difference in the conversion rate at each conversion point, use the conversion setting of the conversion point where the conversion rate is the highest in the "home page view" for optimizing Campaign A.

  • Conversion point “home page view” → highest conversion rate
  • Conversion point “product page view” → high conversion rate
  • Conversion point “product purchase page view” → low conversion rate

Learn more on how to create conversion settings in the following help pages.

Conversion groups

Select the conversion groups to use for optimization from the list.

Settings
Because there is a difference in the conversion rate for each conversion point, combine the conversion settings for the points that have high conversion rates, "home page view" and "product page view," and use them for optimizing Campaign A.

  • Conversion point “home page view” → highest conversion rate
  • Conversion point “product page view” → high conversion rate
  • Conversion point “product purchase page view” → low conversion rate

Learn more about creating conversion groups in the following help page.
Create conversion groups

Note
You can't select conversion settings for each campaign as "Conversion action for optimization" to conversion tags with no conversion label (yahoo_ydn_conv_label). You can’t add it to the conversion group either.

We no longer issue new conversion measurement tags that do not have a conversion label value set. Set a new conversion tag.
Tips
  • You can only select one conversion setting or one conversion group per campaign.
  • The "Include/Not include in conversions" of conversion settings is not applied to campaigns when "the conversion setting that is used for optimization" is selected. You can also select conversion settings with not to "include in conversions."

How to check Conversion action for optimization

You can check conversion action for optimization of autobidding in the "Conversion action for optimization" column of Campaigns view.

  • Click the "i" icon to see the conversion settings set for the campaign or the name of the conversion group.
  • When "Conversion action for optimization" does not appear in the Campaigns view, click "Columns" at the top and add to the columns.

The method of tracking “conversions”

Depending on the setting of the "Conversion action for optimization" column, how "Conversions" is counted in the Campaign Management Tool or the performance report is different.
Use “conversions (all)” to check the number of conversions to compare results, etc.
“Conversions (all)” will count the number of all conversions regardless of settings.
Learn the following counting methods by each conversion action for optimization.

With the setting “Use account-level conversion setting.”

All conversions counted in the account's conversion settings will be included in the "Conversions" (only when settings "Include in conversions" is selected).

With the setting “Select campaign-level conversion setting”:

Conversions counted by the conversion settings selected in the campaign or in the conversion group will be counted in the "Conversions" (the "Include/ not include in Conversions" setting in the conversion settings does not apply).

Tips
When multiple ad actions, such as clicks, are counted for a single conversion, the conversion is counted for the ad action that is closest to the conversion action (last action).
