Create carousel ad of Display Ads (Auction)

A carousel ad of Display Ads (Auction) is a horizontal banner ad that displays a combination of multiple images (carousel cards). Different images and URLs can be set for each carousel card. Rich advertising is possible by setting multiple landing pages and promoting multiple functions of the product and service. See the following example:


Create carousel ad

You can create a carousel ad with the following campaign goals.

  • Conversion
  • Website traffic
  • App promotion

The following steps describe how to create a carousel ad.
Check ad specifications for the detail of length and image size.

Steps

  1. Access to the Campaign management tool.
  2. Select the campaign that you can create a carousel ad on the campaign list.
  3. Select an ad group.
  4. Click the “Create Ad” button.
    Tips
    When you create ads soon after creating a campaign and ad group, click “Add carousel ads” in “Ad setting” column.
  5. The “Add carousel ads” view is displayed. First, enter the basic information for the carousel ad.
    Tips
    • Learn about details on "destination URL" and "final URL", check the page "Create ads" > Ad format types.
    • The destination URL format (prev) can be selected when editing existing ads but is planned to close at the end of October 2022.
    • The feature to convert from the destination URL (old) format to the new final URL format is now available. Learn about details on Apply final URL format.

    Items

    Description

    Ad name

    The media name that you set for card 1 will be automatically set as the ad name. You can edit the ad name once after you add the ad.

    Status

    Set On/Off status of the ad.

    Display URL

    ・For the final URL format:
    Display URL is automatically generated for your ads. When you want to display the domain and beyond, check "Up to the first directory."

    ・For the destination URL format:
    New settings and editing are not available.

    Destination URL

    *Only for the destination URL format.
    New settings and editing are not available.

    Final URL

    *For the final URL format only.
    Enter the URL of the web page that is displayed for the click on the ad.

    Smartphone final URL

    *For the final URL format only.
    Enter the URL of the page for your smartphone, if the page displayed when you click the ad is different between your PC and smartphone,

    Tracking URL

    *For the final URL format only.
    For tracking, set the URL for ad measurement.
    Note

    When you set a tracking URL for your ads, it will be applied to each carousel card also.

    Custom Parameter

    *For the final URL format only.
    Enter the parameter name at the left, and the parameter value at the right.

    Advertiser indication

    Enter the company name, brand name, product name, or service name, to identify the advertiser.
    Only the registered trademark name can be entered.

    Button text

    Select the button name to display in the ad. Select from the drop-down menu.

    Third-party script tag src attribute URL (optional)

    Enter the URL to script tag src attribute provided by analytics partners. See also the following help page.

    Note
    To use the third-party script tag src attribute URL, you need confirmation and agreement of the Agreement on Handling of Measurement Data. If you do not agree, the item will not be displayed. Learn more about details on Agreement on Handling of Measurement Data.

    Impression Beacon URL (optional)

    When you want to link the actual record of generating impressions to the measurement tool, enter the URL issued by the provider of the tool that can link the impression data.

    Note
    To use the impression beacon URL, you need confirmation and agreement of the Agreement on Handling of Measurement Data. If you do not agree, the item will not be displayed. Learn more about details on Agreement on Handling of Measurement Data.

    Viewable impression beacon URL (optional)

    When you want to link the actual record of generating viewable impressions to the measurement tool, enter the URL issued by the provider of the tool that can link the viewable impression data.

    Note
    To use the viewable impression beacon URL, you need confirmation and agreement of the Agreement on Handling of Measurement Data. If you do not agree, the item will not be displayed. Learn more about details on Agreement on Handling of Measurement Data.

    Ad Preview

    Click to preview how the ad is displayed with entered information.

    Logo

    Specify the logo image to set to the ad. Select a logo from the displayed list of added images or click “Add Image” to add a new image.

  6. Next, you need to add a carousel card. The carousel card has an image and URL. Click the “Image” at the top and enter the required information.

    You have to set two or more carousel cards. Click “Add” to add cards up to 10. You can sort the cards with images by dragging and dropping them.
    Click “Ad Preview” to preview how the ad is displayed with entered information.

    Items

    Description

    Destination URL

    *Only for the destination URL format.
    This is the URL of the website that is displayed when the carousel card is clicked. New settings and editing are not available.

    Final URL

    *For the final URL format type only.
    Enter the URL of the web page that is displayed when clicked on the carousel card.

    Smartphone final URL

    *For the final URL format type only.
    Enter the URL for the smartphone when the web page displayed for the click on the carousel card differs between PC and smartphone.

    Title

    Enter the title that is displayed on the carousel card as a headline.

    Description

    Enter the description that is displayed on the carousel card.
    *As of July 2021, the description is not displayed. The specification may be updated later.

    Image

    Select the image from the list of the added image to display on the carousel card. Or click “Add Image” to add a new image.

  7. Click the “Add ads” button to complete.
  8. You can check the thumbnails of added ads. To add more ads, click “Add carousel ads” and repeat the steps to create.
  9. Click the “Create” button when complete adding ads.
  10. The created carousel ad is displayed in the ad list. The ads you create are subject to review.
    Note
    • In some cases, images will be cropped automatically. The cropped area is up to 20 percent of each of the top, bottom, left, and right of the image. Considering the possibility of cropping, we recommend placing the important elements of the ad in the center of the image. Carousel ads are created and displayed in the ad list. Created ads are subject to editorial review.
    • The corners of the image may be rounded on delivered ads.
    • Note that some images displayed on the carousel ads may be corrupted depending on the device in rare cases.
