Automated rules

Automated rules is the feature to run the advertising automatically based on the rules set by customer.
By associating an operation rule with a campaign, ad group or ad, the desired action (change bid, etc.) will be performed when the set conditions are met or on the specified date, day of the week, and time.

Notes using automated rules

Refer to “Create automated rules” to learn about how to create automated rules.

Example settings of automated rules

*The following example is a sample to tell you how to use the automated rules, and is not recommended as the actual setting content. Consider the best setting content for your advertising promotion.

Example setting 1:
■Delivering ads of the New Year limited discount during the New Year's third day:

1. Create a New Year's ad and turn off delivery
2. Create rule 1 to turn on ad delivery at the start of the period (example: around 10:00a.m. on Jan1)
3. Create Rule 2 to turn off the delivery of advertisements at the end of the period (example: around 11:00p.m. on Jan3)
[Rule details]

Example
Example setting 2:
■ I want to change the bid of a highly successful ad group and expand the ad delivery opportunities:

Since it’s hard to check and change every day, I would like to change it with automated rules to reduce man-hours.
[Rule details]
Action: Edit bids and target CPA for ad groups
Target charge and target value: Pay per click
Bid and target value: Increase by 10%
Upper limit after increased  1,500 JPY
Association: All ad groups in the account
Rule: Cost Per Conv. up to 1,000JPY, Conversions 10 or more
Duration: Last 7 Days
Frequency: Daily

Notes using automated rules

  • The rule (ad delivery is turned on/off) runs at the specified time, but it may take some time to reflect it in the actual delivery.
  • When the account's display setting is set to off, automated rules will not run.
  • If the target item corresponds to the following, no change will be made.
     > The added item itself has been already removed
     > The upper-level entity (the ad group and campaign are for an ad) has been already removed
  • The rule (ad delivery is turned on/off) runs at the specified time when you made setting the status On/Off, but it may take some time to reflect it in the actual ad delivery.
  • Settings that can't be edited on the Campaign Management Tool are not changed by automated rule.
    Example
You cannot set the ad group bid to exceed the campaign daily budget.
Similarly, in the automated rules, if the ad group bid increase specified in the rule exceeds the campaign budget, an error will occur when the rule is executed and it will not be changed.

*If multiple rule executions are set at the same time, the change made by the rule executed earlier may result in an error in the rule executed later. When registering multiple rules at the same time, please be careful about the settings.
