Device targeting

Using the device targeting, you can specify the ad placement by selecting the device (terminal), OS, platform, etc., in advance. You can specify the target device in the ad group.

Available items for targeting devices

Items that you can set as your device targets are as follows:
*Available items differ depending on campaign goals.

Devices

You can select PC, smartphone, and tablet for devices. You can deliver ads to specific device types.

  • All devices
  • PC
  • Smartphone
  • Tablet
Tips
If a campaign goal is "app promotion," you can't select "PC."

OS

Select from Android and iOS to deliver ads to smartphones and tablets. You can also deliver ads to specific OS types.

Tips
If a campaign goal is “app promotion,” the app OS (Android or iOS) selected when creating the campaign will apply.

OS version

If a campaign goal is “app promotion,” you can select the lowest possible OS version number for smartphones or tablets. The OS version that you deliver ads to is from the selected version to the latest version.

Example
When “iOS version: 10.0 and above” has been set :
“iOS version from 10.0 to the latest version” is the scope of iOS version of the placement for ad delivery.
Tips
It may take some time until the latest OS version becomes available for use in the Campaign Management Tool.

Platforms

Select platforms for smartphones and tablets to deliver ads. 

  • All platforms (web/app)
  • Web
  • App
Note
When you select "PC" for the device, the system delivers your ads to all platforms.
You can select platforms only when the device is "Smartphone" or "Tablet."
Tips
Web:
Ads appear when the audience views the web browser on a smartphone or tablet.
App:
Ads appear when the app opens on smartphones or tablets.
*When the audience views websites using the web browser within the app, web ads may appear.

Change settings for device targeting

You can create a device targeting settings on an existing ad group or when creating a new ad group. The settings are editable for later.

Tips
Using the Display Ads management tool, you can create new campaigns, new ad groups and ads at the same time.
When starting with a new campaign creation, select “campaign” from the side menu (settings items), and press the “Create Campaign” button.

Create campaigns

To create a new ad group for a campaign that has already been created, select “ad group” and press the “Create ad group” button.

There are two ways to change device targeting settings.

Select the Ad Group in “Edit” from the device targeting list
Change settings in Ad Group settings or when creating an Ad Group

Select the Ad Group in “Edit” from the device targeting list

Steps
  1. From the side menu, click “Device.” 
  2. Click “Edit.”
  3. Click on the campaign and then the ad group you will edit.
    Tips
    Campaigns and ad groups created in the "Display ads" tab of the campaign management tool don't appear in the list. To edit the targeting settings for the ad group in Display Ads, turn off the "New platform" button in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
  4. In the Device Edit view select "All devices" or "Specify devices."
  5. When you select "Specify devices," select devices from the list.
  6. Click “Set.”

Steps
  1. In “Create ad group” or “Ad group settings,” click “Targeting”  Then select "All devices" or "Specify devices" in the “Device.” 
  2. Select devices from the list.
  3. Click the “Create” or “Save” button.

You can switch the settings of the device targeting (On/Off) in bulk by using the following steps.

Steps
  1. From the side menu, click “Device.” 
  2. Select the devices in the target items.
  3. Click “Bulk edits.”
  4. Click “Turn on” or “Turn off.”

    Tips
    You can't set all of the items for a device to “Off.” Set at least one of “PC,” “Smartphone,” and “Tablet” to “On.”
